Friendly Chat is a small yet rich chat client for Microsoft Windows platforms. The program is intended to be used on local area networks; however, it could also be used among Internet users provided that they all have direct IP addresses.
In order to start chat sessions with your friends, you need to create a small application called "distribution kit" and ask your friends to install it. After that, you will have to add each friend as a user by entering his/her IP address and assigning a nick name. The program features one-to-one and public encrypted chat messages, which is a feature not found in many famous chat clients. The program has the ability to create chat rooms, message boards, notebooks, journals and more. The program also supports the IRC protocol and allows you to connect to IRC channels and chat with IRC users. The program supports emoticons and sound notifications. A password can be set on your program so that nobody can use it while you are away from the computer. A very important advantage is that the program doesn't need a dedicated server.
The program also provides an ability to check your e-mail and display the results in a new message, assign sound notifications and set the e-mail checks frequency.
